Esmer is a processed product realized by directly molding a thermal plasticity polyurethane resin. Unlike the cast molding method, calendar method, or the solution method, it is capable of bringing out the excellent characteristics of polyurethane since it does not contain such additives as lubricants, fixing agents, and plasticizers; furthermore, the resin is molded after being sufficiently heated and kneaded.
Advantages
-
Strong resistance to rubbing
The rub-resistance of Esmer is three to five times stronger than the natural rubber and synthetic rubber. For example, it can applied to severe environments such as use for conveyor belts.
-
Superb low-temperature characteristics
Since the hardness of Esmer is unlikely to change even in low temperatures, and it has excellent rubber elasticity, the product can be used either in very cold areas or in refrigerators.
-
Strong resistance to oils and gasoline
Esmer is strongly resistant to oils and gasoline. It is suitable for use with industrial parts and components, automotive parts, containers, and as solvent-protective gloves.
-
Strong resistance to bending and tearing
Since Esmer provides excellent durability for long-term repeated curvature movements and strong resistance to tearing, it is best suited for use in containers and industrial components and parts with problems that cannot be solved with rubber.
-
Combined use with various equipment and materials is possible.
Since Esmer can be laminated with woven fabrics, unwoven fabrics, paper, and plastic films according to the applications and purposes, it is possible to design on costs and quality characteristics that could not be solved by natural rubber synthetic rubber soft vinyl chloride, or by polyurethane processing under the casting calendering, and solution casting method.
-
Strong adhesive power
Since Esmer achieves strong adhesion with soft vinyl chloride, which is the weak point of bonding, it is best suited for weld bonding of shoes and sandals.
Use Application Examples
- Films and laminates of polyurethane elastomer resins in general
-
Films for pharmaceutical products
- Cloth packing for interiors of automobiles
- Conductive films for use in OA equipment

The product is provided with release paper in principle. For slitting and cutting as well as thickness of 50μm or over, coloring of the product is possible in lots upon request. In addition, the polyurethane resin is selected according to the requirements for quality.
The state-of-the-art broad-line extruder, which is one of the largest machines in Japan, was introduced at the Shiga Plant!
In July 2004, we introduced a wide-slit extruder, which is one of the largest machines in Japan, at our Shiga Plant.
- The machine is capable of extruding various types of thermal plasticity of polyurethane, polyester, polyamide, and polyorefin resins.
- The possible processing width of the product is 2,000 to 2,200mm. (Width of 2,200 mm is possible when product thickness is 0.1 mm or more.)
- The range of product thickness is 0.05 to 2 mm.
- Lamination with different types of film is also possible.
Types and configuration examples of laminated products with various types of substrates
- The following charts show the types and configuration examples. It should be noted that Esmer will weaken when dipped in an acid or an alkali solution for a long period of time. Furthermore, it is important that good heat dissipation should be secured to prevent the rubbing areas from accumulating heat, though Esmer has very good rub resistance properties.
- * We are ready to process films and sheets of thermal plastic elastomer other than thermal plastic polyurethane resins upon request.
