Heavy Duty Polyethylene Bags
Reliability for the No. 1 market share in the industry.
Entering new business fields as a leading company.
Nihon Matai pioneered the field of polyethylene heavy duty bags in Japan. The products have a wide range of applications, including chemical products and rice milling, as well as fertilizers, and we boast the highest market share in the industry. Backed by our achievements, we forged ahead of competitors in the development of gusseted polyethylene heavy duty bags for synthetic resins, and thus, we are challenging new business fields. Furthermore, by utilizing multi-layer inflation machines, we respond to a variety of customer requirements.
We offer functional polyethylene heavy duty bags with a combination of types, film configurations, processing methods, and functions.

Fully Recyclable Resin Bag
Nihon Matai developed the Fully Recyclable Resin Bag where reusable raw materials can be regenerated as the same packaging material. As a manufacturer that provides packaging made of plastic raw materials, Nihon Matai participated in a project for building the “fully recyclable system” of resin bags.
Nihon Matai, as a leading manufacturer of polyethylene heavy duty bags, switched kraft paper bags to highly recyclable resin bags (plastic film) for synthetic resin packaging and started marketing the products ahead of other manufacturers in the industry. In Japan, resin bags from synthetic resins are less disseminated with a percentage of around 10% of the total market. However, in Europe and the United States, where they approach environmental issues quickly, resin bags that are easy to recycle are widely disseminated.
Fully Recyclable System for Resin Bags
  • In 2001, Nihon Matai participated in a project with Prime Polymer Co., Ltd. (Idemitsu Petrochemical Company at that time), which was promoting leading-edge approaches to material recycling of waste plastics for a recyclable society, and we started building the fully recyclable system utilizing resin bags. First, with subsidies from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, we implemented surveys on a model recycling system of resin bags. Based on the survey results, we repeated tests in the following cycle: manufacture of resin bags – resin filling packaging – collection and logistics – reusable raw material manufacture – manufacture of recycled products, and in July 2004, we adopted the system fully for implementation.
Achieving Recycling to the Same Product in a Three-Layer Structure
  • The fully recyclable resin bag has a three-layer laminated structure that recyclable raw material is placed in the middle layer and virgin materials are placed in the inner and outer layers. The typical feature is that the product uses fully recyclable packing materials where collected raw materials are turned into reusable resins to be regenerated into the same products (resin bags). Even in European countries, which are advanced recycling countries, most of the materials are recycled for use in different applications in which quality requirements are not strict.

For commercialization of products, problems such as physical properties, handling and ink odors in the processes for obtaining raw reusable resin materials, or problems of costs incurred for various stages from collection to manufacturing of recycled products have been cleared, and our products were adopted for packaging of HDPE resin. In the future, where progress in shifting synthetic resin packaging to resin bags is predicted, the fully recyclable resin bags will play important roles. We will continuously develop products for further expansion of applications.

Realizing Full Recycling via a Networkѭ

The most important advantage of the fully recyclable resin bags in terms of the environmental aspect is the reduction in wastes since used resin bags are collected for reuse. Another significant point is that they contribute to savings with regard to the quantity of raw materials consumed through material recycling by re-resinification of the resin bags. It should be noted, however, that networking and cooperation systems with other companies are essential for establishing full recycling. Under the circumstances where extended producer responsibility (EPR) is subject to severe scrutiny, Nihon Matai will continue to work harder to develop recyclable products to fulfill the roles and responsibilities as a packaging and container manufacturer.
ChemicalFusing Property
Fusion Bags
A fusion bag is a functional packaging material made by melting the bag with the contents. Melting can be achieved without opening the bag.
Reduction in Wastes: Kraft paper bags can be incinerated or deposited as waste. However, with the fusion bag, problems related to disposition can be solved since the bag can be melted with the contents.
Improvement in the Work
Environment:
Since content will not fly apart, the work environment will not be contaminated eliminating the problem of opening the bag so that working time for disposal can be shortened.
Function: Fusing point 85℃ to 100℃
(General polyethylene bag: approx. 125℃)

Bag with Degassing Valve
The bag is best suited for filling special resins or chemicals that require moisture- resistant storage. Air that remains during the filling process will be discharged by the weight of the stacked bags, which facilitates pallet loading.

Gusseted Heavy Duty Bags
This is the gusseted polyethylene heavy duty bag developed by Nihon Matai ahead of other manufacturers. The products realized by the reliable engineering and development capabilities of Nihon Matai as a pioneer company are steadily expanding the number of users.
Gusseted Polyethylene Heavy Duty Bags
  • Further reductions in cost can be achieved compared with conventional packaging containers.

Cost reductions by shifting from paper-cloth bags to kraft bags with an inner PE bag.
No sub-materials, such as strings and crepe paper (approx. 3 yen per bag), which are necessary for sealing the kraft bags, are required. Thus, operating efficiency including cost of personnel for bag replacement can be improved.
When kraft bags with an inner PE bag are used, filling can be significantly improved.
  • Image of the product as an environmentally friendly product can be enhanced.
  • Higher sealing performance can be expected compared with kraft papers, thus enhancing the effects of preventing foreign matter.
  • The gusseted type ensures stable trimming on pallets, thus enabling effective use of warehouse space in a compact style of packing.
  • Positioning of pin-holes is well devised, which prevents contamination and exposure to water, thus enabling open-yard storage.
  • Gravure printing enables beautiful design and printing on gusset areas, which will enhance the image of the product.
  • Embossing has enhanced anti-skid effects.
  • Use of a rolled product reduces bag prices and eliminates the supply factor of pouches, which can further reduce costs.
Embossing
By processing a film surface as irregular, the skidding of cargos is prevented when loading the product.

Micro-Perforation Processing
Pinholes 100μm in diameter are provided in zigzag patterns at an 8 mm pitch. The processing is best suited for fine-powder products and granule products.
Overtaping
A deaeration port is provided to discharge inside air. Air can be deaerated on both sides by applying over-tapes to prevent the direct entrance of water from the outside.
